Most NIMBYs aren't Neoplatonists.

Reading about neoplatonists pursuing the divine transcendence of corporeal existence through pleasure and the worship of otherworldly beauty while wearing my trackers and waiting for vrchat servers to come back up is very surreal

I can't put this down recently

And they both premise that god would necessarily be mean. I’m sure the ai ghost story people have all sorts of reasons of why the ai god would necessarily be mean, but they’re not exactly neoplatonists. At least the neoplatonists did the metaphysics.

Really is underappreciated how Stancil, by framing all of his views as a liberal rejection of Marxism, has reverse-polarized the dumbest guys into this site into becoming hardline Neoplatonists

I sort of want to figure out how to include a Secret Level in my otherwise introductory History of Philosophy course that's basically Christian Neoplatonists vs. Hellenic Pagan Neoplatonists.

Neoplatonists say courage is the cardinal virtue.

St. Augustine has a whole thing in CITY OF GOD where he says that Greek Neoplatonists basically agree with Christians on everything already; they think there's an ineffable Demiurge outside the Universe and various good and evil supernatural entities within, they just insist on calling them "Gods".
This was of course a break from traditional Christian practice which was to treat the Greek gods as extremely real but actually fallen angels / demons.

I don’t think consensus that the Greek Gods were simply made up existed until the Middle Ages when there was no need to assume otherwise

it was always the same two guys getting in fights with bill's extremely liberal psychiatrist dad and the extremely mild-mannered rabbi, who was a philosophy professor specializing in neoplatonists and also an entertaining theological crank.

Working on a paper about this for a chapter in my book + how the view changed due to the rose of Athenian conservativism, Neoplatonists and christianity

Neoplatonists btfo, screaming and crying because they can't point to an objective essence of a person beyond the dynamic body the person appears in

Neoplatonists will be the end of us.

Tate and the Manosphere boys bringing back forms of Hellenism last encountered in the pages of dessicated Neoplatonists lamenting you can no longer send Christians to the Lions anymore.
These schmucks are approaching what I like to call a "reverse Afghanistan" sexuality here:

34. To the succession of pagan Neoplatonists in 5th- and 6th-century CE Athens, Julian was highly admired as a patron of philosophy & traditional religion, such that Marinus dates his mentor Proclus' birth in terms of the number of years after Julian's reign.

Whomst among us who has spent more than a weekend in Santa Fe has never aligned ourselves either with the Neoplatonists or Sethian Gnostics, Arkady?

Socrates never actually existed.

It's 1725, folks. Neoplatonists invoking an ancient, unscientific, superstitious myth are just as bad as Aristotelians invoking it.

14. Plotinus and his followers had a tremendous influence on generations of philosophers and theologians across various regions of the world. However, they are relatively neglected by academia, which insists on reading Augustine again and again, rather than engaging with these obscure Neoplatonists.

In the very final stages, the Neoplatonists (Hypatia) who controlled the remaining works (mostly copies in far-flung provinces) were killed or exiled by Christion zealots who wanted to destroy pagan influences in Egypt.

The last of the collection was lost to time.

There's an extent to which I think about the way both Pastor Johnny and the CCRU talk about unity, though probably the former especially, and end up feeling like Neoplatonists such as Damascius already kinda had it when they argued unity and multiplicity as different expressions of the same thing.

instead of writing Ennead 2.9, Plotinus should’ve just given the gnostics hrt and they would’ve become regular Neoplatonists
