You don’t even have to leave the nerdosphere to understand that there’s not always a winning move. You just have to have seen Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.
My most conservative coded view is that these guys have played too many videogames and not enough sports. There isn't always a winning move to make, but these guys can't comprehend that so it must be the Dems fault they lost instead of the media/Republicans/inflation combined

not to touch the sweatiest topic in the nerdosphere but re: smash bros, atp people who think banjo-kazooie is more important than dragon quest should stop trying to cite real facts because theyre all against you. every single one. i suggest "banjos better because hes an out and proud gay man"

As a side note to all you (cough cough) NERDS out there, something to consider is, if you spend five bucks on a major platform, it probably goes to make their AI more evil, whereas when you pay five bucks to me, I’ll probably spend it on some OTHER nerd material. Let the nerdosphere flourish!
I just put up a new story. It’s called THE HOUSE OF BODIES and it’s slow-burn horror.

Only five dollars and worth every penny.

The House of Bodies
A slow-burn horror story set in a strip-mall gym.

Star Wars.
Losing ANDOR would feel like losing all my organs under a tractor, but I would time-kidnap Lucas in a heartbeat to spare us all from the modern fascist nerdosphere.

Oh cool, nice to meet you, and glad I didn't say anything obviously wrong in the thread! This seems to me like the most exciting thing in AI that most people (outside the ultra-nerdosphere) aren't talking about. Thanks for maintaining such a valuable resource!

Also, to clarify, the group I was with absolutely did freak out, I was just…not SUPER surprised they didn’t already know about it? but simultaneously a little surprised this paper didn’t break out of the nerdosphere more. Maybe it just needs another couple days.

The No-Prize was a work of sublime genius, and is past due a resurgence in the nerdosphere. Shore things up rather than tear it down.

Lookin' -right at you- Cinemasins. Keep on walkin'. . ."
I LOVE THIS.

In the 60s Marvel comics got deluged by nitpickers pointing out errors. Stan Lee began offering a No-Prize (literally, NO prize) in the letter column to readers who EXPLAINED apparent problems. This philosophy carried on with fans who became writers...

Me: "why does anyone even want a hugo at this point?"

Also me: Adamant that I have .000008% of one.

Altho to be fair that was where I split with them. They were SO UPSET with my corner of the nerdosphere, it was hard not to take it personal.

"The Emperor asks only that you hate. The Emperor asks only that you obey."

Warhammer 40k as model rather than satirical warning has exited the nerdosphere.
All this talk about interest rates as a, perhaps the, reason. What a cop out.
Why can none of the commentators say any of the isms that this is really about?

I keep forgetting that there are some who are unfamiliar with this cuz there are some not persistently plugged into the nerdosphere, like people who don't know about the Rainbow Dash jar thing....

I'm sure excited to eventually reveal all the stuff I've been working really hard on lately. I've had some sort of creative reawakening, and suddenly made huge progress on multiple projects.

I mean, when I do reveal it, someone will instantly "um ackshually" it, but that's life in the nerdosphere.

The problem here what the comics/anime/nerd community have been dealing with since 2015, and that is the preponderance of right wing chuds in the nerdosphere has rendered any sort of nuanced, intelligent discusssion about any media virtually impossible. Everything now is a big agitprop cultural 1/4
The Supergirl discourse is frustrating to watch because ultimately it’s a mid movie; a mid movie with some interesting ideas that it fails to fully explore. But the discourse is it’s utter trash or needs (off chauvinistic) defending of its better ideas. Women’s media is unable to simply be mid.

It just occurred to me that ILM celebrated its 50th anniversary this summer. And I kind of feel like the nerdosphere should be making a bigger deal about that.

Otoh, the Left used to inordinately “own” both the Nerdosphere AND the “Erotic/Blasphemous (banned) Books” section.

We just weren’t attentive enough when the Right started attacking the Nerdosphere through Gamergate, Comicsgate, Review Bombing campaigns etc.

Question pour la #nerdosphère.

But the nerdosphere hasn't really shifted in terms of anonymity and I think the general public was pretty much always out in the open on the web–or at least, since the advent of Facebook.

This is why I can only truly relax around people who are HARDCORE dedicated to the inclusive part of the genre nerdosphere.

I always find it very cool to hear about what non-fandom interests my fandom buddies have, so let's hear it - what do you enjoy doing that's not related to #Warhammer, ttrpg, or any "nerdosphere" hobby in any way? Do you play pickleball every Thursday? Do you love bonsai trees? Make your own beer?

Question for the business nerdosphere: what are the best books about Risk Management?

I loved Waltzing with Bears and everything Annie Duke & Gary Klein have written, but I need to shore up my understanding of business terminology and practices.

Thanks!
