If you use netshield its a probably not answer Honestly if your threat model involves DNS Leak (in the sense that you don’t want to stand out for using a different DNS than your VPN unless you use Proton’s DNS 53 option) then I absolutely think that you don’t need to care, just don’t configure anything. I will say that I do think proton’s Custom DNS is kinda the solution if you do want to set another one but if you use Control D (except their public DNS 53) or NextDNS, its really not worth it which is why I think proton really needs to consider changing Custom DNS from Standard DNS 53 to DoT or DoH
