Here I was naively hoping that I could retire from neurology without ever seeing a case of polio. I doubt that’s going to be the case of this keeps falling.

TIL: "neurophobia": the phenomenon among medical students (and, presumably, trained physicians) in which there is a fear of the neural sciences and clinical neurology as it applies to clinical care.

My favs are when physicians publish in leading medical journals (neurology journals for instance) diagnosing FICTIONAL characters with temporal lobe epilepsy or absence seizures or the like. That is not how any of this works.

Oh, no doubt. I'm just saying that the crossover is much greater than for physicians. I, for instance, used to practice in both family law and criminal law, whereas I don't think that you'd find a lot of docs who would handle nephrology and neurology.
