What's Looming?

This spectacular color printed #NewAcq from my 17th c. German buddy Georg Philipp Harsdörffer! The gorgeous rug border, which alternates colors in different printings, alludes to his proposed campaign against the Turks. And FYI, Impressive Textiles is just around the corner!

Exciting #NewAcq: a manuscript occasional Dutch poem, written and recited for the jubilee of Maria Anna Barbara Van der Meer, in the Tongeren beguinage in 1775 #Nuntastic.

We have plenty of these in print, but few in #manuscript and none as a 📜 with wooden shafts!

Lovely #NewAcq, this tiny 16° French New Testament, printed in Antwerp in 1582 - at the time of the Calvinist Republic. 'Corrected on the Greek copy' probably means that it's a translation of Erasmus' edition. Very rare - USTC 5857 lists only three copies.

#NewAcq: this beautiful binding contains lecture notes by Antwerp student Adrianus van der Aa, who attended Leuven University in 1662.
A brown leather binding with a gold medallion of the Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus, with the name 'Adrianus van der Aa' in gold letters and a blind tooled border. The back of the binding looks similar, but has the text 'Antverpiensis' and 'Anno 1662.'

A little #NewAcq. This tiny book of only 24 folio's is very rare - USTC has 2 copies. It's an Antwerp edition of the apocryphal Gospel of Nicodemus, from March 1538. The text seems to be adapted to predict the end of the world. #BookHistory 📚️🩵 EHC 919172
