I mean this - or something very much like it - basically has to be correct, otherwise there's no way humans became Ogryns, Ratlings, Nightsiders, Longshanks etc. after only a few tens of thousands of years in space. Evolution doesn't happen that fast on its own.

In 40k you're not tolerated if you're born "different", but that means if you're born with six eyes or three arms - or with the ability to tap into a hell dimension. Anything else is within the accepted bounds of "human" (even Ogryns, Longshanks, Nightsiders, Ratlings and the like get a pass).
