Emergency crews were called to a house on the Ninefields Estate, Waltham Abbey - at the junction with Stanway Road - late last night after a car crashed through the front of the property.

A quick visit to Ninefields, Waltham Abbey yesterday produced 271 adult Striped Shieldbugs (Graphosoma italicum) plus my first nymphs of the year, two late instars and two early instars. TL397005 #EssexWildlife #UKBugs

Counted 29 Striped Shieldbugs (Graphosoma italicum) at Ninefields, Waltham Abbey today. The middle of the streamside vegetation has been strimmed but still some habitat remaining along the edges. TL397005 #EssexWildlife #UKBugs

Found my first Striped Shieldbug (Graphosoma italicum) of the year, sunning on nettle leaves, alongside lots of other insects at Ninefields, Waltham Abbey, Essex today. I have not previously seen one in March (first sighting 25th April last year). #EssexWildlife #UKBugs

In Waltham Abbey today I found 11 adult and three nymphs of Striped Shieldbug (Graphosoma italicum) at Ninefields and a further 10 adults and a single nymph at Abbey Gardens. I haven't seen any at Fishers Green on my last two recent visits. #EssexWildlife #UKBugs

Turn off Ninefields Road, down Hillhouse and go past Leisure Centre and park in small car park by shops, walk through precinct and check along stream south of leisure centre and playing field. TL39690050 for example. I have mapped at 10m square level avaliable on irecord website and NBN Atlas.

Counted an impressive 52 Striped Shieldbugs (Graphosoma italicum) on one Hogweed plant at Ninefields, Waltham Abbey, Essex today, with plenty more in the general vicinity. #UKBugs #EssexWildlife
