#NjalsSaga
I beg anyone who actually thinks this state of affairs would be a good thing to spend some quality time reading Njalssaga (aka the Saga of Burnt Neil).

Tonight's film is Njálssaga (2003), an Icelandic TV-movie adapting the first chapters of The Sage of Burnt Njál.

Which is the last of the Icelandic DVDs I ordered.

In the Njalssaga he dies at the end of a long, long chain of revenge killings with the message that it could have been avoided, and that the arbitrary violence will perpetuate itself endlessly unless it is actively stopped via things like grace and mercy

in Njálssaga, an Icelandic woman who still held to the pagan religion trolls an incoming Christian missionary by telling him Thor blew up his ship and tried to get Christ into a fight (the bitch naturally didn't show up, the coward)

this is the correct response to everything ever

Leeds, with Andrew Wawn! Laxdaela and Njalssaga I remember best but also bits of Hrafnkel, Gunnlaug, Vatnsdaela.

Now you've reminded me have of Njalssaga where Flosi & his men set fire to Njal's house.
Which is completely off-topic but dramatic as all get-out.
(they do let the non-combatants escape, although 3 choose not to. Also 1 warrior escapes by running along a burning beam & leaping unseen to safety).

Om dråp, hämnd fler dråp och islänningarnas märkliga rättssystem. Men också om kristnandet av ön och en massa småhistorier. Korthugget, hårdkokt och actionfyllt, men lite långrandigt efter ett tag.

Other than the ravens, 2023 was light on photography for me.

The highlight was probably our trip to Hlíðarendi (of Njálssaga fame) and Oddi, where Sæmundur Fróði was a priest. Like most sites of historical interest in Iceland, it was light on tourists
