my options roughly are:

1. apt-get do-release-upgrade and pray it works
2. spin up a new instance and re-create my whole setup in there
3. pass --noreport to tree

i'm doing #3 for now, but i'm gonna stay mad about it, haha

technically i have already forked it but for reasons that im gonna try and upstream, this is a pretty niche scenario and so i don't want to put in that much work

the solution until i can upgrade my OS is to just pass --noreport to tree and it won't output that line. it's fine
