No surprise that the first tenured professor to be fired for 'violating nondiscrimination policies' against Jews is Jewish.

Putting this in the thread, this is referring to what revoking EO11246 does to workplace nondiscrimination law:
For those asking, this does not alter the workplace protections of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but the federal contractor EO obviously was a significant stick the federal government could use to ensure that any employer wanting to do business with the government wasn't discriminating.
BREAKING: In a new executive order sent out by the White House, Donald Trump has revoked the federal contractor nondiscrimination executive order, EO 11246, that was signed by Lyndon Johnson in 1965 and has protected employees of businesses seeking federal contracts from discrimination ever since.

And just to limit it to post 2020 which the reactionary centrist crowd calls "peak woke" the top bill types are still nondiscrimination bills!

Putting together a website dashboard of every LGBTQ related bill of the last two decades, both pro and anti.

One of the talking points that needs to die is that Dems should've focused on things like nondiscrimination to not alienate moderates b/c that's exactly what they did!

The Biden administration stripped protections for LGBTQ students from the school lunch program. Schools can openly discriminate against LGBTQ students now in food programs with no federal consequences.

So much for having our back.

This unprompted mailed hard-copy Notice of Nondiscrimination from a financial institution is raising a lot of questions already answered by the Notice of Nondiscrimination.

He actively fought including trans people in the Employment Nondiscrimination Act. That act that famously passed without such protections like he said it would.

Bills for the 2025 session just dropped in several states, and y'all, it's bad. I'll be reporting on all of them soon but:
- Adult bathroom bans
- Drag bans with bounty provisions
- Removal of gender identity from nondiscrimination protections
and more.

If you're feeling hopeless, just remember that nearly twice as many people support trans nondiscrimination protections (71%) as currently support Trump.

yes, refusing to treat trans californians clearly violates california nondiscrimination laws. you don't need to have worked on california nondiscrimination laws to know that. you are not missing anything, there is no secret #1 ally 4D pro-trans legal meta. it is the exact collaboration it looks like

they're also not enforcing their own nondiscrimination laws when healthcare companies, hospitals, clinics, and providers turn people away for being trans :)

ADF has a track record of representing clients with just-so standing claims, like wedding businesses that are incorporated just long enough to challenge nondiscrimination laws protecting queer couples and are never heard from again
I'm sorry but how does this person have standing to challenge Colorado's ban on LGBTQ conversion therapy when she has explicitly disclaimed any desire to change a patient's sexual orientation or gender identity? How is this a real case? slate.com/news-and-pol...
The Supreme Court’s First Blockbuster Case This Term Looks Pretty Fake
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court will hear arguments in Chiles v. Salazar, a case that seeks to undo a major triumph of the LGBTQ+ movement.

The real kicker here is that the basis of this case is poised to overturn ALL gender-based nondiscrimination laws.

Rowling is literally funding the fight to put women back in the kitchen.
jk rowling funded a case going before the supreme court that argues it should be legal to discriminate against and persecute trans ppl.

yet still we have to listen to ‘centrists’ claiming she isn’t bigoted she just has ‘a difference of opinion’.

no trans ppl have a voice in these proceedings.

Reminder: Trump's Project 2025 called for loosening workplace safety and nondiscrimination laws, eliminating public-sector unions, and gutting child labor protections.

Don't believe for a second that Trump will be a pro-worker president.

This rule has been finalized and you're going to see a lot of scary-sounding posts about it but it does NOT prohibit insurance plans from covering gender-affirming care or override state-level nondiscrimination laws. It's wonkier than that; explained below
So you absolutely should take a minute and submit a comment against this proposed rule which will promote discrimination against transgender people by health insurers. Today is the last day!

However, I'm also seeing a lot of confusion among trans people about what the rule actually does, so quick🧵
Friends, @tekla.bsky.social and I put this together for our CMS comment campaign: Protect Our Healthcare. Please read, submit a comment, and share this with your loved ones. You have until April 11th! transequality.org/news/act-now...

HHS secretary, 2021–2025

Becerra made clear in 2021 that federal health care nondiscrimination protections covered sexual orientation and gender identity.

That gave LGBTQ patients, including transgender Americans, a path to file discrimination complaints with HHS.

9. If your hospital ended trans youth care, you will want to send them this decision right away. And if your city or state has nondiscrimination laws, they will be implicated now that Hospitals lose their justification to discriminate.

If I had to say what segments of American life have taken the most serious blows, I think science, civil service, black women (and nondiscrimination law more broadly) and trans people might be my top four.
The damage being done to US science will take a generation to repair, if it is ever repaired at all,
Jay Bhattacharya and Matthew Memoli aren't bringing "gold standard science" to the #NIH, they are gutting research slowly but surely. When this time is over, they should be hauled before Congress, and shunned for the rest of their lives. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
