A great paper!

Do I win a prize for spotting Noodlococcus in Fig 1? @jpjhall.bsky.social @gemccallum.bsky.social
Delighted to have this review out with @jpjhall.bsky.social!

We discuss the risk of transmission of antimicrobial resistance in the hospital sink drain microbiome, highlight studies providing evidence of transfer, and consider strategies to mitigate these risks 🪠🦠

Noone ever complain again that Bluesky is less then the old Scitwitter days. Sometimes it just takes longer to get there. This thread is one month old, but worth every second. #Noodlococcus and #bluesoup vibes. @contamclub.bsky.social
Made a cocktail for my wife and she put it in the freezer, inadvertently creating a new superorganism please hel—*glurk*

Noodlococcus was the contaminant we discovered on August 9th 2019, leading to the creation of ContamClub as a celebration of interesting contams! 🦠

Investigation of Noodlococcus resulted in some interesting findings about the Kocuria genus. Full story available as a preprint ⤵️

2/15 On August 9th 2019, we found a contaminant resembling a pile of noodles on an old BHI plate

After microscopy revealed it was a Gram-positive coccus, we named it Noodlococcus 🦠🍜

3/15 We whole genome sequenced it and found out that Noodlococcus was a strain of Kocura rhizophila - a ubiquitous species found all over the world. It has been isolated from Siberian permafrost, deep-sea sponges, on food products, plants, animals, and humans… it’s everywhere! 🌎🌍🌏
