A soldier from the Grimsby garrison?
This is a Roman copper alloy crossbow brooch – named for a shape like that of the medieval weapon, though the bow is also what we call the vertical part of the brooch.

Found at Ashby cum Fenby, North-East Lincolnshire

This object is a post-medieval lead shot or ball. It was cast in a two-part mould whose halves were slightly misaligned - a line on its surface shows where the halves of the mould met.

Today's session centred around Ethel Rudkin and the black dog folklore. The Makers built dog face origami models. Some of the group helped to put up previous artwork they had made in the Community Gallery.

#Finds This object is a Palaeolithic [or Old Stone Age] handaxe. We think it is between 500,000 and 40,000 years old. Its maker was most likely a beetle-browed Neanderthal, an ancestral cousin of our lot.
