It's basically "and then there were Indiegames and nothing has happened since then", which is just not true.

Makes me feel like the whole notgames era and such was doomed to fail not because it wasn't interesting to make other stuff, but because game players are conditioned and people making games are conditioned (to care about Steam wishlists or what-ever), a conditionings worth billions of real life $.

there's a *lot* of game design stuff out there that makes me feel icky and the volume of that stuff is rapidly increasing. and you know what, most of it is right! this is how you do game design. this is how you make gameplay. this is how you solve problems introduced by gameplay.

I love how I can look at this a year later and it's all still true. Except "first third" is "first half" because what do you mean this is the same year I met half of NotGames because May feels like it was years ago
It's been a bit. I am bad at social media and also December has done the usual thing of zooming by even though the rest of this year has felt so long that anything from the first third feels like it happened last year 😅

it's been so long since i've thought about notgames! there were also like... i feel like there was another -games prefix. it wasn't antigames. anyway, it had a similar vibe.
