While a tiger snake (Notechis scutatus) is a wonderful creature, and will help “take care of” your rats, they can also be a bit disruptive to your plans. And the rats’ plans.

I like your snake, @paul.kidd.id.au.

Gemini is wrong, that's a Tiger Snake (Notechis scutatus). (In practice it doesn't matter as if you're bitten you don't need to identify the snake, they'll just give you polyvalent antivenom).

Tiger Snake (Notechis scutatus)
03 January 2026. Curalo Lagoon, Eden, New South Wales, Australia.

A large aggressive highly venomous snake, endemic to Australia. At least four deaths have been attributed to its bite which releases a potent neurotoxin.

In late October I stopped at Rowes Lagoon on the way back from Sydney to Canberra, & came across this Mainland Tiger #snake (Notechis scutatus). I took this head shot when it came onto the mown area & I was lying down. I was very happy to capture it head on. #wildlifephotography #naturephotography

If you're after something I've done that's similar Gilded Rake but for Bibo

I have my pre DT Notechis - Deco Dense (first image)

...when depicting scaly extraoral tissue in dinosaur #paleoart why do we always have them proportionally small or mid-sized like a varanid, rather than the giant plate-like scales or snakes? Is the latter possible?

Tiger snake (𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘶𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘴) from Tasmania. There are only 3 species of snake in Tasmania (4 if you count washed up sea snakes), all of them dangerously venomous. 🐍 #snake #herpetology #australia #tasmania

The joys of working outside in Australia....

The black tiger snake (Notechis scutatus) 🐅🐍. One of the most venomous snakes in the world. Very thankful it was more scared of me than me of it.

This Eastern Tiger Snake
(Notechis scutatus scutatus) has become a semi-permanent resident, returning to this same spot every couple of days to soak up some sun. It's extra flat today because the weather is cold #nature #snake

In what seems to be a regular round, the tiger snake (Notechis scutatus) turned up again at its usual spot after another 2 day absence #nature #snake

Tiger Snake (Notechis scutatus) tend to be much darker in Tasmania, than mainland Australia, so they can absorb more heat in this cooler region. But you can still see their stripy golden bands closer to their belly.

A beautiful Eastern tiger snake (Notechis scutatus scutatus). Looks like it had a run in with a kookaburra. Currently living in our greenhouse #nature #snake

Next up we've got the brown fur seal, platypus and a tiger snake!

All the little paintings I did are of native Australian animals, majority are species we've seen or have on sites we've worked on. There's a few scattered in there that I just really wanted to paint too.

Are Carnac Island tiger snakes really a persisting population from an introduction event ~100 years ago? We don't think so...
