#Nuclear's
Germany's electricity mix, 2000 vs 2025:

Renewables: 6% → 62%
Fossil fuels: 62% → 36%
Nuclear: 30% → 0%

Nuclear's exit was filled by renewables, not coal or gas.

Nuclear’s too slow, too expensive, and will stop us hitting our climate targets.

It was a really valuable experience to be a member of the parliamentary nuclear committee. We heard from the experts, industry and investors. They want certainty in the energy transition.

Nuclear’s not the answer.

ONE. MORE. TIME. FOR. THE. HARD. OF. THINKING.

I. WILL. TELL. THE. CRAB. STORY. WHEN. I'M. GOOD. AND. READY.

Also.

When Scottish Nuclear's super injunction expires.
I’m assuming your bouillabaisse COMES WITH CRAB?*

* No, I haven’t forgotten.

IMO "What do you think about nuclear's place in a racial justice lens" should also be asked of hydroelectricity

Milestone: 51% of all electricity produced in the Netherlands last year was from renewables! In 2015, it was only ~12%.
Nuclear's share last year was 3%, leaving 46% for fossil generation (mostly gas).

Small reactors just had their “best year ever.” Solar is already doing what SMRs hope to do: mass production at scale.

Keep developing clean energy—but solar isn’t waiting for 2050, and neither is the world ☀️

We were told nuclear's cost problem resulted from not building enough reactors to the same design. Sizewell C - if it goes ahead - would be the 7th and 8th of EDF's EPR design. Any ecomodernists out there want to hazard a guess as to what N is needed to deliver Nth-of-a-kind cost savings?
when the FT revealed in January that the cost of building the Sizewell C nuclear plant had risen to around £40bn they all denied it

now we can reveal the actual price tag - to be announced this week - and it is £38bn

The federal government has made $900 million available to back small modular reactors. So is this really the year small nuclear finally works? Or are we just watching the same expensive promises dressed up in new headlines?

Wind & solar don't need to individually match nuclear's or coal's capacity factor if they're paired with sufficient storage. The relevant metric increasingly becomes the utilisation and reliability of the combined generation + storage system, not the generator alone. #Bettrification #SWB

Germany's electricity mix has changed dramatically since 2000.

Renewables: 6% → 62%
Fossil fuels: 62% → 36%
Nuclear: 30% → 0%

Nuclear's exit was largely filled by renewables, not coal or gas. Fossil fuels fell over the same period.

Renewables have left nuclear in the dust. In 2024, renewables supplied 14.8% of global primary energy vs nuclear’s 3.9%—a near 4:1 lead. Nuclear peaked two decades ago and is fading, while renewables are compounding up the S-curve. The race isn’t close. Renewables won. #EnergyTransition #Solar #Wind

the thing a lot of people dont get about nuclear's "mutually assured destruction" is that it isnt just a threat to stop the nukes from flying

it also stops any intervention at all in nuclear armed countries because if their corrupt govts lose; we all lose.

France isn't just building offshore wind, it's building long-term energy security. EU-approved support for 11.1 GW will generate almost 48 TWh a year, around 10% of France's electricity demand. Speed is money, cost always wins, and nuclear's share of the mix is shrinking. #SWB #Bettrification #Wind

Draft CSIRO GenCost confirms solar & wind still best options. Even after billions are spent on nuclear reactors they would need substantial re-investment to survive the 80yrs Peter Dutton is claiming & no commercial small modular reactors exist. #auspol www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...
