A lot of you are walking around not realizing that two of the planets in the solar system have massive global oceans of seething hot liquid metallic hydrogen smdh.
September 29, 2026 at 6:11 PM
Yep - it handles all three. 🌊 Oceans can scale to unlimited size, while lakes are handled as separate water bodies with their own elevation/material. Rivers/streams use a dedicated flow-mapped system with slope-based rapids/whitewater. Also integration with Terrain3D-addon if wanting that! 🍻👍

It also fills the oceans with acids building up , killing the coral reefs and all life …
We have long known every tonne of carbon dioxide matters to the climate

But governments keep approving new fossil fuel projects – even as climate change worsens.

Until now, it’s been difficult to say how much damage and extra warming a specific project will do

We can finally measure the damage each new coal, gas or oil project will do to people and nature
For decades, we couldn’t trace the link between new fossil fuel projects and their damage to people and planet. But now we can.

We’re all poisoned now . The oceans are poisoned and full of acids killing reefs all life while the microplastics are in us all, literally growing IN our food… I have no words .

After atmospheric oxygen rose about 2.3 billion years ago, phosphorus recycling in ancient oceans helped keep levels high for millions of years. doi.org/hckxn8
How ocean chemistry helped life keep breathing
Scientists have helped solve a longstanding mystery about how Earth remained habitable after oxygen first accumulated in its atmosphere more than 2 billion years ago, providing evidence that ancient ocean chemistry sustained life-friendly conditions.

unsolicted advice but ultramarine and prussian are probably the only two blues you'll need; ultramarine's warm and great for skies, making purples + naturalistic greens; prussian is cool and good for oceans, atmospheric perspective, really beautiful browns when mixed

🌎 CBC looks back at the 2022 Montreal biodiversity deal Canada helped broker.

The goal: protect 30% of land and oceans by 2030. Current projections: 27% of land and just 12% of oceans.

Canada itself is at about 14% and 15.5%.

Can fast-tracked development coexist with those commitments?

As Austrian, in a landlocked country, ocean acidification frightens me the most. Probably as I have not enough experience with oceans. Not even much with the Mediterranean.

How bad will it become below pH 7.9? And what will be the atmospheric CO2 concentration forcing it below 7.9 / 7.8 / 7.7?

I don't care if you don't produce sardines, we're gonna tariff them like we tariffed those damn penguins.
And scissors.
But mostly sardines (yes, I know Fishland doesn't grow sardines, but it's right there in the name)
Plus the salt water. We don't like salt in our oceans.

”This is only the second time that astronomers have captured even a hint of an atmosphere around a remotely Earth-like planet.”

Earth-like as in atmosphere full of excess pollution, plastic oceans and a degraded biosphere?

Better not be Earth-like, LHS 1140b

Alien life? Why the possibility of exoplanet LHS 1140b emitting helium gas is so exciting
The exoplanet LHS 1140b may have a temperature that could allow for liquid water on its surface. Just possibly, it could support the existence of life.
