Stede’s wardrobe was a hatbox. Two hatboxes, each stuffed to the brim with waistcoats and cravats and trousers and more, all carefully folded or laid flat. Ed brought them up to his cabin, along with a dinner tray, pretending he needed to go over charts and couldn’t join the crew in the galley. He wasn’t ready to share Stede yet. Ed picked up a slip of something that was softer than soft, and held it to his cheek. “Is this silk?” Stede looked up from a pile of stockings. “Oh, no. That’s actually a rather exquisite cashmere.” “Rather exquisite cashmere,” Ed repeated. “Oh! Do you fancy a fine fabric?” “I think maybe I do. I have this...” He dug out his square of crimson silk, the one he’d carried, hidden away, for decades. No one else had ever known it existed. “Something my mum gave me, when I was a kid...” “May I?” He passed it to Stede, who took it and folded it, from bedsheet to pillowcase size for him. Then he smoothed a hand over it. “It’s lovely, Ed.” “Bit old.” “Sometimes old things are the best things.” “You can have it.” “Oh no. I couldn’t.” “I want you to.” “We can share it.” “As what?”

I think asexual relationships would count as an underrated trope/ship so I’m also adding a few of my (oof, many) ace4ace gentlebeard fics that are particularly fluffy!

His toaster has stopped working, his library book has gone missing, and now his bathroom lights won't turn on. It's like he's been cursed ... ... or possibly blessed, because the guy who's come to fix his lights - one Ed Teach, owner of Blackbeard's Lighting, Lamps and LEDs - is just Stede's type. Trouble is, Stede can't bring himself to ask Ed out, and once the fix is complete, Ed will leave his life forever - or will he?
