041026 OM1ii my 1st autumn star trails the only astro I can do thanks to the clever camera. Nut had granted clear skies, so I couldn't resist @sjbastro.bsky.social @davidbflower.bsky.social @astroroyalscot.bsky.social and why not to dead head @brigitstrawbridge.bsky.social

October is the start of Autumn for me as part of the Official Photographer Team for the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. Instead of trees, leaves, etc. I'm taking photos of hot air balloons. 🤣😂

Camera nerd interlude: First outings done for this OM1ii with the 40-150 2.8 plus a 1.4 TC

A joy to use, fits in a tiny satchel bag and weighs next to nothing

Incredible

060926 OM1ii My #York garden 1 Painted Lady 2 brief visits from 2 Red Admirals and an even shorter visit from a Hummer which declined to pose for photos @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social #ukbutterflies #inverts #bugsky #uknaturalists

250826 OM1ii at least 2 visiting Hummers and playing astro @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social #teammoth #mothsmatter #gardenmothscheme @sjbastro.bsky.social @davidbflower.bsky.social One Hummer is looking a bit ragged. Times 1/8000 or 1/10,000 sec
August 25, 2026 at 6:16 PM
Thank you. The OM1ii has a clever pro capture setting. The problem with the Hummer is getting the speed right, usually I Use 1/6400 sec - not fast enough. 1/8000 a bit better so tried 1/10,000. If another visits I'll go even faster and HOPE!

220826 OM1ii HBHM my#York gdn. @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social #mothsmatter #muchadoaboutmothing #teammoth #gardenmothscheme several visits & different shutter speeds 1/6400 1/8000 1/10000 Still impossible to get really good captures.

130826 OM1ii 12mm f2 8sec with 2 sec intervals 999 shots @sjbastro.bsky.social @davidbflower.bsky.social @astroroyalscot.bsky.social Did clever OM1ii manage to get Perseids? Had to get an urgent new memory card, fortunately we have a camera shop in York. Started at midnight, made a video
August 13, 2026 at 2:28 PM
That happened to hubby & myself long ago with his sister and her hubby near Castle Howard. Don't think it was Perseids though. No matter, it was wonderful and I'm pleased you saw them. Hope to put OM1ii out tonight for 999 shots

100826 OM1ii The nursery is open again, Mrs HBHM has left an egg. @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social #teammoth #muchadoaboutmothing #gardenmothscheme She's left 2 on the wall but can only find 1 and there's some in the mass of Gallium
August 10, 2026 at 6:41 PM
Hope so. However, not a lot beats the OM1ii😁
August 9, 2026 at 10:59 AM
Trapped last night and used the TG5 for photos using the stacking method. Will try single shot next time. It's not as good as the OM1ii & 60mm lens of course, wouldn't expect it to be, but the TG8 could be worth trying.
August 9, 2026 at 10:22 AM
080826 OM1ii HBHM in my garden and a Perseid, I think the first meteor I have ever photographed. @bcyorkshire.bsky.social @savebutterflies.bsky.social @astroroyalscot.bsky.social Moth shot at 1/5000 sec the meteor 8 seconds 990 time lapse images with video too big to post.
August 8, 2026 at 6:26 PM
Thank you, clever OM1ii did the job and Nut the Sky Goddess kept the sky clear until he could. There are a couple more possible clear nights so he'll be out playing again.
August 8, 2026 at 12:35 PM
I'm planning to trap tonight unless it's clear in which case attempts to capture shots of Perseids will be priority. I use OM1ii and 60mm lens for moth photos but will play with the old TG5 too which I haven't done before. Could be interesting and if TG8 has enough improvements...

080826 OM1ii @sjbastro.bsky.social @davidbflower.bsky.social Did I get one? 01.34. There were lots of trails but they were obviously satellites. This was near the end of the 990 image time lapse. Note to self, stay awake an hour longer and start the process later.
August 8, 2026 at 11:45 AM
Expecting clear skies tonight so I'll be setting up OM1ii for maximum time lapse.
August 7, 2026 at 10:44 AM
It does both but what I think I'll do is set the little TG5 to trails and the OM1ii to the full 999 individual shots. Not sure it can manage 15 secs, though, I'll have to play. Maybe put the little light pollution filter on too, I've convinced myself OM1ii can see more stars with it than without...

The beginning was Joy showing me a shot of a blade of grass and then my photo of the Bee's face with a basic Olympus Point & Shoot. This year for the first time I raised Painted Ladies. Still hopelessly hooked on insect macro. Thank you, Joy, at 7.30 pm 5 Aug 2005
