Looks like we won't have to wait for OneCycling for a sportswashing sponsor on one of the biggest events in out sport 💀
Saudi wealth fund PIF could be the new sponsor of the Giro d'Italia. Energy company ENEL had sponsored the maglia rosa but that deal has ended and the replacement has yet to be announced. But Tuttobici reports it's likely to be PIF www.tuttobiciweb.it/article/2025... (🇮🇹)

So much to pick from:
* Big NO to OneCycling
* U23 belonging to UCI pro teams will not participate in Nations Cup anymore
* Introducing a new system allocating points to road teams based on riders' performances in other cycling disciplines starting in 2027. CX will become a lot more interesting 😉

Oh god I can vividly imagine a Saudi Arabian GT under OneCycling

The more I read about Onecycling the more I'm convinced we're gonna get a climbing stage in the multilevel parking lot of an Ikea store or something

For the fans of OneCycling
🚺 Human rights situation in 🇸🇦
🔸 No freedom of speech
🔸 Women under male guardianship
🔸 Gender apartheid
🔸 Slave labour
🔸 Beheading as punishment
🔸 No democracy
...

The morals of sport federations dropped beyond every level.

Things that fuck me up:

1. OneCycling as a whole

2. David Lappartient supporting OneCycling AGAINST THE ORGANISATION HE'S LEADING RIGHT NOW

3. Teams who support this shitshow

I've never been this vulgar before, but now we are witnessing the death of cycling.

Like I cannot imagine OneCycling teams riding only OneCycling races and not other WT, as OneCycling envisions.

I also cannot imagine non-OneCycling teams being excluded from RCS or Flanders Classics races.

And I cannot imagine sweeping changes to turn Giro stages or cobbled classics into circuits.

Besides that I also think they want control over sports moreso than just sponsorship in a way that idk if the others do, like OneCycling

The funny thing about Plugge and OneCycling though is that he wants the best riders to face eachother more times in the season while his best rider is known for skipping the biggest (one-day) races in order to be as optimally prepared for Tour de France

My understanding is that it’s a combination of existing WT races (mainly owned by RCS/Flanders Classics as ASO still isn’t convinced) and an increasing number of OneCycling-created ticketed circuit races around the world, and they want the involved teams to exclusively race the OneCycling calendar.

I’m foreseeing more OneCycling vs ASO politicking incoming also

Many are saying this!

Or maybe third GT after OneCycling replaces the Giro with it

Thanks to OneCycling: I can’t wait to see all the top riders; Tadej, Jonas, Primož, Remco, MVDP and Matthew Brennan lining up at the start of…

*checks notes*

…the Tour of Guangxi in February.

Do we know, what OneCycling actually is? As in the format? Is it a league, with its own ranking? Is it just a collection of races within the normal UCI calendar? Will they actually be UCI races? Which, if any, current races will be part of it? Is it only WT races? Will all 18 WT teams ride them?

Sometimes I read people’s ideas for cycling reform and have to think “jesus do you just hate cycling?!”

(This isn’t necessarily about OneCycling even lol just reading people’s idiotic ideas…)

That is not to say that I'm in favour of the particular reform OneCycling is planning. We don't even know yet what that exactly is.

But I am in favour of a clearer, simpler race calendar.

And I am certainly in favour of opinions being discussed on merit and not on the years spent watching cycling.

Not that I’ve been able to read about this (paywall) I hate it. Onecycling yuck
