Fiscally precarious institutions concerned about future enrollments are particularly susceptible to the tech hype. It happened with MOOCs, is happening with OPMs, and now AI. The tech companies know this, and market accordingly. They prey on the fear-based decision-making that precarity creates.
This to me is the saddest customer. As if universities weren’t in enough trouble, last year Albany purchased $200 million of fool’s gold… this is gonna be a painful story to revisit in ten years.

A quick survey of my coworkers, most people never responded to any of OPMs email. Make friction my fellow feds. Make them clarify everything, make them do it in writing, vague guidance gets vague responses, we are the deep state after all, let's act like it.

Challenge: does FMRI have a future (apart from studies of development and ageing)? We want to know HOW the brain works and for that we need millisecond temporal resolution neuropixels, MEG, OPMs. After nearly 30 years of FMRI we know basically WHERE things happen.
