I do teach that distinction. So much of what is called OSINT is Open Source Data or OSINF. Mass scrapes of websites is data/info. Detail why the info matters, why the recipient should care, how they can act on what you just took up their time to read: THEN you have intelligence and OSINT. 3/3 end

Great question! Two things to note here: I do my best theories based on frequency and patterns correlated with possible OSINF and, since it can always vary between training sessions or missions, I always try to state “likely“ because in the end without internal information it stays mostly vague.

In other words:

#OSINF = oooh look what I just found in open sources

#OSINT = oooh look what I found in open sources. And then the info was processed and analyzed. And this is what it means to you (with also keeping fallacies and bias in mind) so you can make decisions
