On 30 March 1959 under threatening skies, No 6926 Holkham Hall leaves Oakengates with the 3.48pm local from Wellington to Wolverhampton. Except for New Hadley, all the local stations on this stretch have survived and a new one, Telford Central, was opened in May 1986.

You won't believe this...but I've performed a dance routine at Oakengates theatre, to Holding out for a hero, dressed as a nun. Not my happiest memory.
