#Obamacare
Framing it as "Obamacare" in 2026 is a choice.

Obamacare Dealt Yet Another Blow as Premiums Jump Again

“Obamacare dealt another blow”—by whom, nytimes (on X)? Your own reporting identifies expired tax credits and new Trump administration enrollment barriers. Put that responsibility in the headline.

It's not Obamacare that was dealt a blow. It was the people who need Obamacare to afford medical insurance who will feel the impact of this.

And stop calling it Obamacare
October 31, 2026 at 2:22 AM
It's been 17 years, why is anyone still calling it Obamacare?

Remember when I was a full time freelancer 10 years ago, made less money, and could afford an Obamacare silver plan? Good times.

When it's negative, it's Obamacare.

When it's positive, it's the ACA.

Now, how long has it been since the affordable care act was referred to as Obamacare in a NYT headline? It is incredible that this is an article that tries to blame Obama for these increases by implication and imagery. Absolutely blown away by the misleading bad faith.

Why the fuck are yall calling it Obamacare in the year of our lord 2026?
October 30, 2026 at 8:53 PM
The media likes Republicans and wants them to win
October 30, 2026 at 8:25 PM
Where is “Obamacare” in your stylebook, NYT?

You saved my life with Obamacare.

Thank you Mr. President 🙏

A somewhat fascinating (if you're a huge nerd like me) counterfactual is how Obamacare would have turned out with Clinton still in the Senate to help draft it.

Very deliberate choice to call it Obamacare here, as though he’s the reason the premiums are going up almost 10 years after he left office 🙄

Breaking News: Obamacare premiums will rise by 13% next year, hitting middle-income people already struggling with health care costs.
Obamacare Dealt Yet Another Blow as Premiums Rise Again
Premiums will jump by 13 percent for next year, though much of the price increase will be offset by subsidies. But customers who earn over $64,000 will pay more, on top of this year’s huge increases.

They all told themselves it was because the made the noble sacrifice to vote for obamacare instead of that all of them (including obama) had no idea how to do politics at that moment.
this is one of the things where i think the dems after the 2010 wipeout are more instructive than tends to get attention. even after a brutal shellacking, all the people in charge - all in safe areas, thus keeping their seats - went 'actually we're STAYING in charge'. and the rest went along

If you are on Obamacare (The ACA) you are getting a 13% spike in premiums thanks to Trump and The GOP! Another reason why we need Democrats to control Congress to address this BS! thehill.com/policy/healt...

Obamacare was dealt another blow? I’m paying $4,800 more in premiums this year than last, not Obamacare.

This is an interesting asymmetry. Few people have thwarted Democratic initiatives more than “moderates” like Manchin or Sinema (or the blue dogs during the Obamacare process). Meanwhile it’s fringe figures like Massie or MTG who have most frequently thwarted GOP initiatives during Trumpism.
nobody wants to hear it but the only real “blue no matter who” types are progressives

the defectors are always, always, the “centrists” and this is true when it comes to passing legislation too
gotta say, the contrast between Haley Stevens’ unhinged crashout and Francesca Hong being a no-drama good sport and supporting Dems up and down the ballot is crazy

Fun fact: Obamacare was very similar to the healthcare plan Romney signed as MA gov in mid-2000s.
October 30, 2026 at 3:36 AM
Love this framing as “Obamacare,” no mention of Trump. And when they mention it’s a “Trump administration blow” to the law

Not trump actively raising your bills.

They absolutely refuse to report on republicans active efforts to sabotage laws and raise your bills to pay for billionaire tax cuts

Hilarycare would have been better than Obamacare, and Obamacare passed because Democrats learned from past failures.

"GOP Continues to Shrink Obamacare, Leaving Millions Without Healthcare"
That fixes the headline. The story? Well...
