“The logic of the government’s hierarchy of racisms will be fully on display” ... via the Bell Review, in classrooms across the UK.
Sir David Bell, author of the review, has been accused of Islamophobia during his time as head of Ofsted.

Children’s services in West Sussex, my local council, have been judged ‘good’ by Ofsted, seven years since being judged ‘inadequate’. Still a long way to go.

I am the anti-Akehurst, in that Luke sees public sector reform as a distraction from the important work of bombing Iraq, whereas I see the Iraq war as a dreadful waste of time that could have been spent arming Ofsted.

Six years later, some of the originators of ‘flattening the grass’ occupy very senior positions in OFSTED. I often wonder if @lucympowell.bsky.social knows this, and if she does, whether she cares. #EduSky

Reading Evelyn Waugh’s diaries. For some reason, my favourite entry is the following:
“I have come to the conclusion that Heath Mount is the worst managed school in England.”
He was 11. Clearly, if he hadn’t become a novelist, a career in Ofsted would have beckoned.

Situations like this are flagged almost every day by Ofsted, in reports that almost nobody ever reads.

It is interesting to see inspectors querying education provided to pupils in “reflection” – and impact on them of time spent out of the classroom – after a high-profile case last year saw qs re this seemingly not having figured in Ofsted conclusions.

Inspectors’ notes, released by Ofsted under FOI, show criticism of children losing “nearly half a term” out of lessons during first two terms of last year, in either reflection or suspension, often for “very minor infringements,” with gaps in their learning resulting.

So the Ofwat are removing the board and CEO and replacing them like Ofsted do... right?

Lifetime Training Group Limited — Ofsted says: Good. The data says: 40% of its 14,320 apprentices actually finished.

That gap is why the league table exists.

Sure - I'm talking about opposition to Ofsted, SATs, etc, not arguing for better pay and conditions.

Had to deal with them and Ofsted in the latter years of my career. Difficult to put a fag paper between them 🤬

Not just ND children either. Fidgeting, not making eye contact and just not being comfortable in one’s own skin is part and parcel of being a teenager, and if Ofsted is designing its metrics around body language it is not fit for purpose.

God, this makes me SO angry.

I acknowledge that some homes are judged good by Ofsted, and a few are even outstanding. But the risks to young people of coming to harm in children’s homes, almost all of which are run for profit, are unacceptably high.
