Got out for a short walk this afternoon, so today's (phone) photo is a view of #OgmoreCastle and the #SteppingStones across the #AfonEwenni / #EwennyRiver , and of course some #Sheep in the background because this is #Cymru

Looking across a shallow river with large irregular stepping stones providing a crossing point. 2 white swans swim close to the stepping stones. On the opposite bank a ruined castle sits on a low grassy mound. To the left, low walls and a partial tower remain and to the right the roofless remains of a small chapel. The two sites are linked by a small brown wooden bridge across a shallow gully. A wooden hill rises behind the castle

Ogmore Castle in South Wales. 12c build. The fields in front often flood when the river backs up on high spring tides and/or heavy rain. At the foot of the castle is the River Ewenny.

Not been down for a while. It's still there.
12 century Norman castle and stepping stones. Stones are great to people watch in the summer. Usually someone tumbles off and often a standoff as someone tries to cross when someone is half way.

#OgmoreCastle and #SteppingStones risk getting wet when river low but no chance when the river is up. Tidal as well, so this area can flood well. But rocks in river, rocks in castle.
Ogmore Castle and the rocks in the river Ewenny for people to cross. Watching people cross is fun, falling off happens. Can be around thigh deep at least in the middle. But bonus rocks in the castle. It has a king. The #Crow is surveying all its lands from the top right #tower. The river can still backup here on a high spring tide. Estuary a short way away.

Ogmore Castle seen from the opposite bank of the Ewenny River. The main part that remains is on the right where the gate house also is. To the left of the main part are many structures but a lot lower. A crow sits onto of the main structure of the remains of Ogmore Castle. The bird is almost middle of the picture.

The ruins of a Norman Castle. This is a modern walkway across the moat. At the far side is the arch remains of the gatehouse and on the left is the remains of part of the castle wall. The right of the footway the walls are mostly gone. Norman Castle looking down the moat. The green grass may make it difficult to see but the foot bridge middle picture you can see the stone work go to the bottom of the moat. The right half of the picture has part of the remains of the castle wall. The left half has the remains of a building that is only missing the roof.

Since I've moved to Wales was to be riding at #OgmoreCastle BUT plans changed as our very feisty 102 year old Nanny passed yesterday afternoon napping in her chair, so I'll be making moussaka & taking it to Aunt Angela's...plans slightly shifted but still not watching "IT". Nan hated that thing!

An enjoyable guided history walk taking in #OgmoreCastle, #MerthyrMawr, New inn, the Dipping bridge and #Hut9 prisoner of war camp. I always love hearing the story of Cap Goch the prolific murderer who hid the bodies all around this area! #Bridgend #ValeofGlamorgan
