Was a pleasure to finally meet UK-based Japanese type designer Toshi Omagari and have a chat over dinner!
His book Arcade Game Typography is definitely worth getting if you’re interested in fonts in games (and I got mine signed tonight!)

日本国内では唯一の競技大会となる昼花火の部は、明るい時間帯でも視認性が高い色煙を使用した「煙竜（えんりゅう）」と「割物（わりもの）」の2種類で競技を行い、その形と色の組み合わせにより美しさやテーマとの整合性を競い合います。
