Lately for me it’s been to go through the 400 figures the authors crammed into supplement and find out which have meaning and which are window dressing. And to temper language that makes sweeping claims based on weak correlations. But I do omics stuff
Which of these is it

1) Help authors improve papers
2) Identify flaws in the work
3) Assess the extent to which claims are supported by data
4) Advise the editor on a decision
5) Provide guidance/context for readers
6) Rank/filter papers in a journal hierarchy

Stanford and Broad Institute researchers analyzed multi-omics data from over 10,000 people in NIH’s All of Us program.

They identified 5,186 rare genetic variants affecting disease genes, most lacking clinical classification.

This man has caused more damage than most people know, but for me, the worst thing he did wasn't Iran/Contra, wasn't ignoring the AIDS epidemic, it wasn't even "Reagan-omics". It was the removal of the Fairness Doctrine act. Long story short, it's the reason Fox News exists.
