My paper “Memory, Anxiety & the Collapse of Waiting” has been accepted in Memory, Mind & Media! It’s about how social media messes with collective mental time travel by locking us into anxious moods based on Massumi’s notion of Ontopower, which acts on potential and not actual events.

pt. 1/ Massumi's book “Ontopower,” a mode of governance that "operates preemptively and shapes the very conditions of existence." provides an interesting/useful tool of analysis. It describes circumstances in which fear of a behaviour brings about that very behaviour.

Anyway, go read this essay while you’re waiting for Brian’s new book on fascism. It’s an important extension of his earlier (and, imho, brilliant) theorising of ontopower
