On this day in 1796, #OnaJudge, a young woman enslaved by #GeorgeWashington, liberated herself from the first executive mansion at 6th and Market in #Philadelphia. Despite Washington’s aggressive efforts to recapture a woman he planned to “gift,” Ona was never recaptured.
