#OneNote
My favorite thing about OneNote is how there’s no right way to use it because you’re inherently wrong for even trying to

Maybe I am the last remaining OneNote user but Copilot has made typing in it legitimately annoying by LAG

You can write things by hand on a computer and highlight them on the computer. You use a stylus and something like OneNote.

Except!!! At my last job where I was this person?? I literally saved off the answers to frequently asked questions so I could email them pages out of OneNote. Mutual benefit

I risk overdoing the dad joke wordplay, and risk being a OneNote presence here. I'll try to do better.

I do well w/OneNote. I used to swear by a local-only Wiki called “ConnectedText”, paid for new versions as soon as they popped, but the lone dev. but went radio silent and the site died a few years ago.

@lightspill I know several friends/coworkers who find spatial organization to be helpful, so I don't think it's just a fad.

Which I'm fine with, so long as I'm still allowed to make notes in ways that work for me (work: Microsoft OneNote with tons of pages/notebooks, home: various text files, etc).

didn't convince Microsoft to update OneNote to be on par in features with any other release. The app literally tells you to open OneNote in a web browser for managing page conflicts 😭

Samsung even had a workaround by letting you sync Samsung Notes to OneNote but that's been discontinued.

I got my first accusation that I'm using AI, which was really hurtful, but I keep my drafts for specifically this reason, so:

Here's what my drafts look like, including the one for the next update. I use OneNote specifically so I can keep all of my little scraps off to the right.

No AI here. 👍

I use:
- Firefox browser
- Thunderbird email
- Duckduckgo search. At this point, better results than Google
- Word/Excel. Have the standalone, no subscription, no Copilot version
- Dropbox. I could easily NOT. If they change their privacy policy, I can pull the plug
- Joplin. OneNote replacement

Didier Stevens Updates OneDumppy with Bulk JSON Extraction for Embedded OneNote Files
Security researcher Didier Stevens has introduced a new feature to his onedump.py tool that makes extracting embedded files from Microsoft OneNote documents significantly easier. The update adds JSON output support, allowing security analysts and digital forensic investigators to extract information from multiple .one files in a single operation rather than processing each document individually. What Is the OneDump.py Tool? onedump.py is a tool developed by Didier Stevens for analyzing Microsoft OneNote files.

The latency after "warming up" feels very minimal, extremely close to OneNote Android or maybe even slightly better, and this is wirelessly.

Secondary complaint is that it doesn't seem to use hardware encoding but that doesn't really matter that much for me because I am just using it for OneNote.

OneNote decided to be unstable on the latest Android beta so I tried to find some other app to replace it with but they all suck.

Nothing seems to be as simple and easy to organize as OneNote or they're limited such as having a truly infinite canvas (which I don't personally like)

I used OneNote for the first time a few days ago, and holy cow, it's a game-changer for organizing my thoughts. I can't believe I've never used it before.

I've been having trouble keeping up with a physical diary, so I tried using my phone journal instead. Now I'm trying a diary in OneNote!

Zoom and These Microsoft Apps Now Optimized for iPhone Duo
Zoom and These Microsoft Apps Now Optimized for iPhone Duo
Over the weekend, the video calling app Zoom was updated with iPhone Duo optimization. On the device's large inner display, users can now see shared content such as the host's desktop and other participants on a call at the same time. In addition, four Microsoft apps were updated with iPhone Duo optimization today: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote. Microsoft Outlook was already optimized for the device since it launched, but Microsoft Teams has yet to be. Apps built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later are fully optimized for iPhone Duo. These apps extend to fill the entire outer and inner displays on the device, with toolbars and tab bars appearing vertically below the status bar. Apps built with the iOS 26 SDK or earlier run on iPhone Duo, but they appear in the center of the inner display, leaving lots of empty space. In the App Store, optimized apps have a "Made for iPhone Duo" label on the device.Related Roundup: iPhone DuoTags: App Store, Microsoft, Microsoft 365, ZoomBuyer's Guide: iPhone Duo (Buy Now)Related Forum: iPhone This article, "Zoom and These Microsoft Apps Now Optimized for iPhone Duo" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums

I don't have many Obsidian extensions (I don't want to create a security problem for myself on down the road) but there's a few that really helped me get into it finally.

Auto-download images after import was one I really needed for doing some archiving I had been using OneNote for.
