Het eiland Huisduinen is zwaar getroffen evenals Scharwoude en Oostend ( in het gebied vd Proost v West Friesland )
De eilanden Texel, Urk, en Schokland hebben ook grote schade geleden.
Veel West Friesen zijn naar Oost Friesland gevlucht.

2 November 1917 Captain William John Sivewright was killed in action and buried in the Oostend New Communal Cemetery. He is also remembered on the Cheadle Hulme War Memorial. William was 22 #WW1 #History #HistoryMatters

I've been there a few times for special exhibits.

The picture is dated 2nd August 1933 at De Haan, where Einstein was living and next to Oostend. The other two men are Anatole de Moncie (in the Homberg) the French Minister of Education and his private secretary. De Moncie was conferring the Légion d’honneur upon Ensor that evening.

Ein historischer Betonbunker aus dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, eingebettet auf der Kuppe einer bewachsenen Sanddüne unter einem verhangenen, grauen Himmel. Im Vordergrund erstreckt sich ein schlichter Holzzahlzaun mit gespannten Drähten. Dahinter wächst trockenes, windgepeitschtes Dünengras in hellbraunen und grünlichen Tönen. Der flache Bunker besitzt mehrere offene Fensterschlitze und ein Geländer auf dem Dach, das den Blick über die Dünenlandschaft freigibt. Der schlanke, hohe Leuchtturm „Lange Nelle“ in Oostende ragt unter einem drückenden, dunkelgrauen Wolkenhimmel empor. Der weiße Turm ist mit auffälligen, blau geschwungenen Wellenlinien verziert und besitzt oben eine gelbe Plattform sowie eine Laternenkammer. Im Vordergrund verläuft eine asphaltierte Straße mit gelber Straßenmarkierung. Rechts zieht sich ein mit trockenem Gras bewachsener Hanggürtel entlang, während im Hintergrund die Silhouette der Stadt Oostende mit Kirchspitzen und modernen Hochhäusern zu erkennen ist. Ein altes, aus Holz gebautes Fischerschiff liegt auf Paletten aufgebockt an Land. Das Holz des Rumpfes zeigt starke Verwitterungsspuren mit dunkler, fast schwarzer Patina und abblättrender gelber Farbe am Bug. Der kleine Steuerstand oben ist rot gestrichen mit weißen Akzenten. Im Vordergrund verläuft ein schwarzer Maschendrahtzaun. Der Hintergrund zeigt ein Gewerbegebiet mit Containern unter einem leicht bewölkten Himmel. Eine bronzegrüne Statue einer nackten Frau steht mitten in einem flachen Wasserbecken auf einem rechteckigen Betonsockel. Die Figur hat ihre Arme über dem Kopf verschränkt und schaut leicht nach unten. Das Wasser spiegelt die Silhouette der Skulptur wider. Im Hintergrund verläuft ein Holzsteg sowie eine Dünenlandschaft unter einem wolkenverhangenen, grauen Himmel.
