Opals are beautiful. I promptly ate the 1st they ever presented to me and then had to shit on newspaper so that they could find it. We charged extra for that one. 😉 Kidding on that haha but they sold the opal which riled because I felt (and still feel) that it belonged with me. (Insert Gollum gif.)

Yes I like all of these. I have this intense early memory of coming across a Stretch Armstrong in the desert behind the Santa Fe flea market and being just like blown away by it. 🤯 We were living there at the time, in our old bus, while my parents sold opals to tourists.

As I go into in the video, opal is not actually a “mineral” either, it’s a mineraloid since it doesn’t have a crystal structure. And the term “opalite”, before being used for fake opals, was defined as opals without the opalescence, so it also is a mineraloid, in the geological sense.
