Instead of the usual 48 hours of non-stop rush, we went with a month-long, more mindful hackathon, giving everyone the time to learn, build, and make mistakes along the way. At the end of the day, our goal is to build meaningfully and bring more people into the open source fold. Every edition of FOSS Hack is a learning opportunity for us, too, this year, especially, was a whole lot of experimenting. We hope you had a good time? FOSS Hack 2026 winner cards for three teams. First: Mayank Choubey won 10,000 INR for OpenStreetMap: improving map coverage in underrepresented areas. Second: Darshan K won 25,000 INR for Pyodide: fixing console-v2 REPL bugs and building NeerNet, an offline-first PWA for flood simulation via WebAssembly. Third: Abhishek Anand, Shashwat, Prashant Saxena, and Shivang Suman won 10,000 INR for Maxun: adding output format selection for crawl and search robots FOSS Hack 2026 winner cards for three teams. First: Lucky Ansari, Muskan Singh, Panth Haveliwala, and Panjari Shah won 1,00,000 INR for OpenAlgo — hardening the project with modernized logging, 100+ unit tests, security fixes, and a persistent SQLite-backed order queue. Second: Abishek Raj, Sailendhra B, and Shyamsundar M received a Commendation for Hoppscotch — adding response body/metadata save and preview in REST request history. Third: Vivek Neeralagi received a Commendation for Hoppscotch — fixing large integer precision loss in JSON request payloads. FOSS Hack 2026 winner card for Hoppscotch, with a Commendation badge. Team members: Chirag Singh, Shreyash Naha, Sarthak Gupta, Sahil Agarwal. Contribution: Enhanced CoMaps by integrating Wikimedia Commons images and information for offline use, and adding Mangrove Reviews as a decentralized, privacy-respecting alternative to proprietary rating systems. Includes a QR code linking to fossunited.org/fosshack/results.
