Just wrote this today. Maybe I should shoehorn all the words I don’t have into my writing for the day? 🤔😅

From a new #ONC2025 entry, “Holo-Mon: Beast/Bird”.

That was before she even looked at the deck Mitchell had handed her. Battered, corners curled up, plastic backing peeling away at the edges, but it wasn’t the state of the cards that bothered her so much, though she had to wonder how well they could work, but the deck itself. It was the ‘Bird’ deck of the series, partner to the ‘Beast’ deck, but not like any she had seen as she flipped through the cards. “‘Creeping Crow’? ‘Mischievous Magpie’? ‘Galloping Goose’? These aren’t the right cards.” She took two cards between her fingers, fanning them and showing Mitchell. “‘Bubblegum Barrier’ and ‘Candy Cane Catcher’? Really?” “It’s the junior deck, I know, but it’s just exactly the same, except the animations are more … child friendly. All the bird powers are the same, the stats, the damage they can cause. Just … fun.” Mitchell stepped away from her and Charli realised that was because her eyes bulged for very different reasons. “Look at it this way, if no-one takes you seriously, it’ll give you an advantage, because you know you’ll be deadly serious. It’ll work. Trust me.” “But I’ll be battling people with ‘Crowkill’, an eight feet tall murderous bird from the Under-Dimensions, with …” She flipped over another card and rolled her eyes before showing Mitchell. “‘Wily Woodpecker’.”
