#OpenZFS
Fulfilled most of the #twistedPresents Kickstarter today, except for the hardcover dropships.

Discussed OpenZFS fragmentation in #openzfsmastery.

An hour of tai chi this evening.

I'll take it.

#OpenZFS includes arcstat, their standard tool to interrogate ARC stats.

It's in python, so #FreeBSD doesn't install it.

It'd be really nice to have this as a package before #openzfsmastery comes out.

The OpenZFS User Days wrapped up yesterday, and Developer Day kicks off today!

Great discussions on hardware costs and shortages, how users work with existing OpenZFS features, and what they'd like to see next.

Looking forward to more ideas and insights!

Over two-thirds of HDD capacity shipped in 2026 will be SMR, according to Western Digital's projection at the OpenZFS Summit.

SMR dates back to 2003, but adoption is accelerating. Now filesystems must adapt: host-managed SMR drives don't support conventional random writes.
