May 27, 1942. Jozef Gabčík (Slovak, just 30) & Jan Kubiš (Czech, one month short of 30) completed their mission in Prague. The eventual assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, who died in hospital days later of the upholstering he'd received. #OperationAnthropoid 9 bravest young men. Memorial Day.

#OperationAnthropoid, the plot to assassinate #ReinhardHeydrich, launched on #ThisDayInHistory in 1941. It took six months; on 27 May 1942 he was killed by men from the Czechoslovak Army, trained by British SOE. #Heydrich was a major architect of the #Holocaust and had it coming.

Technically, Heydrich was seriously injured in the attack on 27 May. He would die from those injuries on 4 June.

One of the #SOE #Resistance safe houses in Prague. Heydrich’s assassin Jozef Gabčík stayed here, along with the traitor Karel Čurda. Six members of the Svatoš family were murdered by the Gestapo for sheltering them #WW2 #History #OperationAnthropoid 🇨🇿

In #OperationAnthropoid, #ThisDayInHistory in 1942, #ReinhardHeydrich, one of the architects of the #Nazi #Holocaust/#Shoah, was fatally wounded by an anti-tank mine in Prague in an assassination attempt by #Czechoslovak resistance. He died of injuries sustained eight days later.
