>An opposition to Bad Art is an opposition to Art itself

Fuck yeah honestly. I fully support vast quantities of garbage art because somewhere in the middle of all that some people are going to realize they have a genuine passion for the form and they are going to keep making art and that's beautiful. An opposition to Bad Art is an opposition to Art Itself

🚨BREAKING: Supreme Court DENIES Department of Justice request for emergency stay in California election case. No noted dissents. The Court did not even ask for opposition briefs!

A complete DEFEAT for Trump DOJ. Another victory for Elias Law Group and our clients.

"What kind of opposition is it when there are no acts of opposing?"

Devastating.

I think it's bad that the Trump DOJ conspired to prosecute an opposition party congressional candidate under bullshit premises and is trying to cover it up.
///BREAKING/// U.S. District Judge April Perry has now ordered US Attorney Andrew Boutros and several others to appear for testimony under oath in the "Broadview Six" case.

this is someone who seems to delusionally believe that has a big constituency which will follow her in opposition to the party nominee. the more likely outcome, i think, is that people decide this is sour grapes from a loser

Once more, for the crowd in the back, run against your opposition not the people your opposition shames, blames, scapegoats and reviles.

But if you can't accomplish the first step - vote against your opposition - then the above is impossible.
Josh Turek says he didn't vote for a Democratic ticket, and instead voted republican for several races.

And yet trans people are vilified for doing the same to him?

This is what effective opposition looks like, it forces the government to be confronted on and hedge on their weakest issues.

According to G. Kasparov, there is a test for the russian opposition consisting of 3 criteria, which must be answered within 5 seconds and without hesitation: the war is criminal, the regime is illegal, and Crimea is Ukraine. By his estimated only 25% of the opposition can pass the test.

I am sanguine about a lot of Jewish opposition to AES and even Mamdani, in that it's basically the inevitable result of understandable communal politics--the same way I viewed Uncommitted and Arab opposition to Biden--but I really, truly hate these fucking professional philosemites.
There are plenty of Michigan Jews who will vote against El-Sayed for bad and racist reasons. But it's still weird that Haley Stevens, who is not Jewish, keeps appointing herself "voice of the Jews" without our consent. Particularly given that she ended the career of an actual Jewish Rep, Andy Levin.

Why, so that you can quietly retract your opposition when challenged like you did over trans rights?

The idea that the left can only organize in opposition must be rejected if we are going to have a strong 2028 showing
I also challenge this idea that if Dems win big, it'll be less a "blue wave" than just Republicans staying home. I note that D candidates are winning indys/driving voter enthusiasm (@gelliottmorris.com good on this too).

Charlie Cook engages on this at some length:

Dan is, predictably, misconstruing this episode in a completely self-serving way. He is intentionally conflating party loyalty and principled opposition.
