Today (yesterday) I’ve been at a family wedding. Had a great time talking with relatives, many of whom I haven’t seen for years. Bit of a blip mid-evening due to too much lovely food & drink, but a little snooze sorted me out & I had a 2nd wind for dancing & conversation #OscillatingOctober #Day31

My lovely sister painted my nails for me this evening. I like having painted nails, but have done this so rarely for years - always something else to do. Unfortunately I have already messed up two of them a little. Oh well! #OscillatingOctober #Day30

Today I went shopping for a dress for a wedding, buying very last minute. Gave up after 4 shops (the only clothes shops available in my local town these days). Have had to shop in my own wardrobe & thankfully found a couple of suitable dresses I don’t wear regularly #OscillatingOctober #Day28

Today I attended an archives and special collections workshop, taking time away from busy teaching prep, and had such a great time having a tour and then exploring one source myself. I could easily have sat there looking, considering questions & writing for double the time #OscillatingOctober #Day27

Last night was stage 2 in a gradual family build up (though not my husband & children). I went from being one of three people in the afternoon, to five in the evening. Will see even more today, in the build up to a family wedding tomorrow. #OscillatingOctober #Day29 (forgot to post this last night)

This evening has involved a long trek through discussing various fandoms and links between them (inspired by watching Stranger Things Season 4 Chapter 4). It has been fun. But there’s always more links to make! #OscillatingOctober #Day26

Today I had washing out on the line that dried very speedily. It was wonderful to watch it blowing in the wind. Wish I’d started earlier (I was up early enough) and done two loads of washing #OscillatingOctober #Day25

Today I have sorted Christmas decorations from many bags and boxes in the attic, binned all the broken things and cards that can’t be turned into gift tags, and got everything organised into one big box. Big sense of achievement. #OscillatingOctober #Day24

Today (as most days recently) I walked all four bits of the back and forward commute, despite the pouring rain. #OscillatingOctober #Day23

This afternoon we had parents ‘evening’ in person in secondary school for the 1st time ever, 5+ yrs into being secondary school parents. There wasn’t quite the 5 minute advanced scheduling for each subject (of my childhood), but waiting to see various teachers was familiar #OscillatingOctober #Day22

Today has been a lot of preparing. Not getting everything prepared that I’d like to have, but doing a lot of it #OscillatingOctober #Day20

This evening I’ve been being brave & thrown away (in the recycling) lots of jigsaw puzzle pieces. Still got a pile puzzles to (try to) give away, but had to recognise that ones with broken or missing pieces need to be let go of now! My children don’t seem to be bothered #OscillatingOctober #Day21

Today I got to see behind the scenes in a theatre. Looking forward to seeing the production in December, and hearing more and more about it through rehearsals (my son is going to be doing panto!) #OscillatingOctober #Day19

Today we’ve been spending time with family. Nice to chat and catch up
In multiple different groups. #OscillatingOctober #Day17

Today I made the decision to get rid of an old toy that was played with much over the years, got it down from the attic and have been cleaning the many parts ready for offering to neighbours. I hope my hard work is worth it and someone wants it #OscillatingOctober #Day18

Today we went on an exciting visit and have been making exciting plans #OscillatingOctober #Day16

Today has been a long and busy work day. But not as busy as the evening busier day tomorrow, which I am nearly prepared for. Kind of. #OscillatingOctober #Day15 Autumn term. No matter how busy it always feels in the summer, it’s nothing compared to the actual fullness of autumn.

Today I’m thinking about how interesting it is that my job involves having a certain amount of experience in using a lot of different databases and techniques, developing my skills and inspiring others to make use of these things #OscillatingOctober #Day14 Plus a lot of other things.

Today I had to make a list of the days and times over the next couple of weeks when all four of us are free for something, and realised that these occasions are few and far between. As my children get older their lives get busier! #OscillatingOctober #Day12

Today I have spent silly amount of time exploring council sub-committee meeting minutes from decades ago. And getting frustrated at some things being there when googling but seemingly not indexed in a way I can see them all. It’s been fun! #OscillatingOctober #Day11

Today I went out with friends to an exhibition and to catch up in the pub. It is nice to have activities arranged in advance to force me to do things #OscillatingOctober #Day10

Today has been a day of many things, home and work. Positives and stressful. It has concluded with champagne (which has sad waiting for months for the right day for it) - so generally positive! #OscillatingOctober #Day9

This evening I’ve been explaining to my teenage daughter teaching I am planning for next week, on academic/non-academic sources, evaluating them & accessing them. And she’s been testing this & other things I bring in, critiquing & hugely improving what I’m trying to create. #OscillatingOctober #Day8

Today I sad down for a while after doing a half hour bit in a module (one of my favourites to do once I get into preparing) and had multiple people stop for a chat. It is good to be out and about - will do it more often, if I can find the time… #OscillatingOctober #Day7

Today I spent time updating slides for a class that no-one turned up to. I’m still glad to have done this update done (well, kind of), to be ready for another time - later in the time when hopefully more people have had a chance to realise how useful it would be #OscillatingOctober #Day6
