You know, Buckminster Fuller pointed out that since up and down are relative to the center of the earth, we should talk about going "outstairs" and "instairs" instead of upstairs and downstairs.

Found him: Buckminster Fuller. Popularizer of the term "Spaceship Earth", to call to mind the fact that humanity is one big crew on the ship that is Earth. He used to call downstairs & upstairs = instairs & outstairs. As you are either moving towards the centre of the Earth or outwards! #philsky

Upstairs and downstairs are a flawed subset of states within stair theory, descriptors confined to the interior at hand. However, one is always instairs or outstairs

You get out of bed, and then you go instairs or outstairs depending of where you've stored your food. May we all survive the winter months.

Entryways to a building featuring at least some stairs are very common.

And yet, in English, we have lacked an atomic couplet of terms meaning "to come up the stairs and go in", or vice versa. Until today.

Ok I know it’s horrifying and I should go downstairs but to get downstairs I have to go outstairs, and right now outstairs is really scary

I’m a big believer in emergent potentiality. Or the potential for the unexpected to occur because you made small changes. Language is a great place for this. Responsibility replaces right. Shaping replaces implement. Outstairs replaces upstairs. Beautiful. None of these examples are mine.

Uh-oh, already 3 instances of getting words mixed up: "outstairs" instead of "outside", "mouse factory" instead of "mouse family", and "rock and wrong" instead of "rock and roll". I need another coffee from the chicken.
