#OverProofed
Way overproofed. Had hoops from 7-11 last night and by the time I got home to shape them they were barely staying together. Might wind up as croutons 😂😭

We’re at most fourteen days away from Taylor Sheridan announcing a new show called LINEMAN starring like, Malin Akerman as a freakishly smart huge bitch busy fending off her overproofed-dough-husband’s horny bucket bunnies

This is the loaf from that 100 year old starter. Since it's a different starter and fed differently from what I'm used to, it slightly overproofed, but still has a great oven spring. I was in a hurry with the scoring as I didn't want the dough to lose shape, so the ear is minimal. Gonna be bomb!😊

I think you did pretty good. You may have overproofed it by am hour or 2, if you want to be picky. Here's a handy chart

Overproofed.

Probably a combo of overproofed, too much water, and possibly too much psyllium husk.

❤️ However, I know I put just the right amount of love into it.

I'll tweek the other variables as I bake more and get more experience.

Ok I actually probably could have proofed it longer and maybe baked it a bit longer too but it's yummy, definitely not overproofed and has a good sour flavor.

I'm going to try again tomorrow lol. 🍞

It's in the oven. It didn't look overproofed but I was afraid to touch it and find out for sure haha. It's cooler here today and it was made with some older whole wheat bread flour I found in the pantry with some fairly new starter (we just fixed our oven so I just restarted starter). So probs fine.

In STARTUP HELL, I do have the characters have sex while the rolls are rising... and then discover they've overproofed the rolls 😆

My man looks like he's made of overproofed dough

Made sourdough pretzel bites and even though I forgot the dough multiple times and it was overproofed, they turned out okay and my kids love them

Idk if you can overproof focaccia? That’s what people make when they have overproofed loaves.

Looks tasty. Enjoy!

Good stuff! I made one a coupla weekends ago. There’s also a ton of ways to customize it too.

Mine was possibly a teeny bit overproofed. XD

It absolutely was!! I think it would have been okay if I hadn't gotten distracted by making the buttercream for the cake. And you may have given me a hint about the starter too--the bread still rose in the bowl, so either I overproofed it the second proof, or I overworked it. (It's def overbaked.)

50 years baking and still make mistakes.

Put in the fridge to bake in the morning but after a few hours it was already overproofed. Okay, not a huge mistake, but still…

Overproofed a little (taiwanese summer) so texture was a little chewier than you'd like, but the flavor was impeccable.

Cinnamon buns at cafes here tend to be drier than I like. I want very gooey. These were closer to the platonic gooey ideal.

if its too sticky it might be overproofed
September 20, 2026 at 5:53 PM
yeah. You cannot directly use the proof times from recipes unless you are in their kitchen with their starter. I would guess overproofed as well, but let's see crumb.

Saturday night adventure: attempt #1 at One Large Soft Pretzel from @ryeisenberg.bsky.social's Small-Batch Breads. Pretty sure I overproofed the dough, and it stuck to the parchment paper, but neither thing made it less delicious!

Reballing Overproofed dough is unnecessary

I disagree with the most common recommendation to reball overproofed dough. Unless the dough is really far gone, I usually think it’s unnecessary. And if it is really …
