Went the other way, because strings need time to stretch out once you put them on, so I like to overtension them and let them relax for a few hours before playing on them.

i can't really see that closely on the image because of resolution, but it looks like there's a lip on the plastic, and you could probably fashion a backstop from a washer to provide substantial overtension resistance, provided the brass and plastic threads are fairly tight

I'm not sure that would be too much of a problem

- the project of a 'dry' suture is to avoid the overtension that's necessary in some places along a sewn seam in order to move the rest into alignment.

With a large adhered area pulling, all local loads (and tension) will be reduced.
