When I passed my driving test in 1973, I celebrated at The Star at Overbury. I bent two cars getting out of the car park & drove like a bat out of hell to Winchcombe, where I hid in the square for half an hours before going home. Sorry chaps, but in my defence, I was very pissed

A challenging night at Overbury and whilst bird numbers caught were ok, there were far more birds present with around 100 Woodcock noted.

A challenging night at Overbury and whilst bird numbers caught were ok, there were far more birds present with around 100 Woodcock noted.

The 12thC font at St Faith, Overbury has carvings of two figures, this one carries a staff in each hand so could possibly be Priest or Bishop but also has a nimbus so might not be....
The carving of the robes is lovely but may have been recut at a later date, possibly in the 17thC.

Carr became the king’s favourite, but still needed Overbury, because whatever everyone saw in Carr, apparently it wasn’t intellectual firepower. Or as historian Chester Dunning puts it: he was “a man of limited intellect and education”
