It's amazing once you realize how many bohemian young artist scenes existed mostly as a result of real estate overproduction in the previous decade causing housing to become cheap enough for young artists to actually afford
shitpost/not-shitpost, but i think the ability of people in their 20s to just be dirtbag fuckups for awhile that basically ended in the early 00s helps to explain why so many people who are in their 30s and younger seem so fucking neurotic now
It's kind of depressing, but urban disinvestment and white flight really did create the conditions for dirtbag 20-somethings to have a super fun life, and that will likely never exist again
