This year marks the 100th anniversary of greyhound racing at Owlerton Stadium.

However, after Scotland and Wales banned the sport on animal welfare grounds earlier this year, there are now calls for England to follow suit.

On Friday, Dan went to Owlerton to find an sport under attack on all sides.
Is Owlerton going to the dogs?

The site of the old power station and adjacent tip are now covered in grass and trees as nature reclaims them. The path by the river will one day be part of the Upper Don Trail.

In terms of loss of life Malin Bridge and Owlerton, not far from Wardsend, were among the areas worst hit by the Great Sheffield Flood when, on the night of the 11th March 1864, the Dale Dyke dam was breached. The local communities were left devastated by the wall of water which swept all before it.
