It hit an absurd 83°F on Saturday while doing a Christmas Bird Count, which meant December butterflies. Unbelievable...

OMFG!!!!! Summer officially made! 😍 Found this GORGEOUS Western Pygmy Rattlesnake just yards from my property while walking my dog! Used my snake stick to move it off the road, and not a single strike. As expected, INCREDIBLY docile. SO THRILLED! 🐍💚

Not all flies are the annoying little poops that get in your house and on your food, or worse, lay eggs in your skin. They're very diverse and can be surprisingly striking

Photographed a few neat species in my yard earlier this month.

Photographed from a bazillion miles away and heavily cropped, but I found the first Scarlet Tanager to arrive in Missouri this spring several days ago. I adore seeing these neon red Neotropical migrants!

Ozark flora while hiking around with a friend last weekend. We were looking for early migrant birds and herps but the wildflowers and fungi took over our attention!

I found 65 American Avocets at a local park here in SW Missouri on Earth Day. These are always tough to see on the Ozark plateau, easier in the flat farmlands of the state. And those numbers were a big deal.

Been getting more and more into freshwater fish lately, and just love aquatic wildlife in general...so much going on underwater!

Here's a Northern Hogsucker and Rainbow Trout from a river here in the Ozarks that I photographed recently.

Purple Finch from today

These are moving through in good numbers right now for some reason. Looks like he just had a mouthful of seed

Still not detecting any Warblers, Swallows, or Gnatcatchers yet in my hood this spring. I'm itching for migrants
