Damnit! Now the Miata has the check engine light on. P0128 coolant below regulating temperature. It gets to temp eventually but not fast enough. Thermostat must be sticking. Miata is jealous I've been working on the MGB.

Obnoxious is still getting the P0128 fault code despite having changed the thermostat. But it turns out the problem might be that I used a cheap thermostat aftermarket thermostat instead of an OEM AC Delco. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. Some engines get upset when you don't use OEM parts.

The $22 engine coolant temperature sensor is 1) a PITA to fix on a 2013 JK Wrangler, 2) better clear engine code P0128 so I can pass emissions test, 3) needs fewer plastic tabs on the fender cover (broke 4 out of 12) & 5) reminds me why I dream of an actual shop to work on my own cars someday...

The code I'm trying to read is likely a P0128 anyway, and I can confirm that with my generic OBDII device later, but still! That thing wasn't exactly cheap!

Van's also throwing a P0128 code again, so I should /probably/ stop ignoring that soon, especially since it's a real simple fix that involves removing only one or two things to get at it (coolant reservoir, and even then it's just unbolt and move out of the way, and maybe the airbox. Maybe.)

The problem? Engine coolant is below the thermostat regulated temperature. Which I was able to confirm with the presence of a P0128 code and the fact that the coolant temperature was running about 5-15 degrees cooler than usual. The solution? I need a new thermostat and o-ring.
