#PCSA
It sucks that HBCUs constantly have to be behind the 8 ball in sports like this.

And no, that goofy PCSA isn't going to help either.
Mississippi Valley State basketball schedule drop created a lot of talk.

But Delta Devils general manager Cyril White says the conversation is missing a major part of the equation.

They don’t have it because they pissed off too many retirees/resignations it’s why PCSA is dead in the water. Also Johnson isn’t calling them back because the Hegseth impeachment vote is the first thing on the agenda.

1-Do you agree with Chris Simms criticism of the PCSA?
2-Can we deport J Batt? Did he even talk to Bob Chesney? Chesney made a team from the ballsack town of Worcester, MA relevant. Then he took JMU to the playoff after Cignetti emptied the cupboard and left him scraps.

If he keeps talking about this people are going to understand the PCSA better, that’s for sure.
This morning on ESPN's First Take, Nick Saban argued player and coach pay are "totally different markets."

"That's like asking me 'Does a student's scholarship equal the professor's pay?' I mean, how much value does a coach create for a university?" 📺 💰️

The bill would set national regulations on payments to college athletes through their name, image, and likeness (NIL), limit how often athletes can transfer, and provide antitrust protection. bit.ly/4jvh0xl

Backers of the Protect College Sports Act contend if it becomes law, the PCSA would hold agents of college athletes accountable, prevent excessive commissions and ensure NIL deals are paid out.

They have a point, but the facts and the law are complicated: www.sportico.com/law/analysis....

College sports agents will be regulated much more closely if the PCSA becomes law, a point the bill's backers argue will increase athlete pay.

Union Busting Comes to Campus

The Protect College Sports Act (PCSA), which passed the Senate 77-22 on Monday, has been the subject of nonstop advertising campaigns during college football and basketball games for the last several years.

Union Busting Comes to Campus - The American Prospect
The Senate-passed Protect College Sports Act is really an anti-labor bill meant to restore the NCAA cartel at the expense of the athletes.

Everyone pointing out his (and presumably his staff's) complete lack of ball knowledge is really something since he's one of the co-sponsors of the PCSA and definitely has athletes' best interests in mind

Early versions of the bill had some of those protections that got taken out after lobbying. Sen Kennedy (R-LA) attempted to add an amendment to cap ticket price increases, but it failed. I think it’s fair to say fan concerns were not critical to the authors of the PCSA.
Did this ever have protections for fans from continuous donation hikes and/or reseating? Or cap salaries of actual coaches/admins? I don’t know if that can be legislated, but those are two reasons I’m a now former season ticket holder. It feels like this doesn’t care about fans.

Reading up on PCSA a little bit, I'm struck by how focused it is on regulating responses to the perverse incentive structures that have led us to this place, but *nothing* to address the incentives themselves.

* The PCSA does expand athlete health care coverage and could potentially increase the direct payment earning potential for elite women athletes
* A lot of lawmakers are really worried about Olympic sports being cut to fund athlete salaries, even if that isn't really what is happening.

In my professional opinion, functionally zero. Title IX enforcement still overwhelmingly comes from private litigation rather than the DOE/DOJ, there's no updated legal guidance on how House payments ACTUALLY fit with Title IX obligations, and nobody has enough data. That wasnt a focus of the PCSA.
I want to know what affect it has on title IX enforcement

okay politics bluesky, what do you want to know about the PCSA? What it ACTUALLY does, what it says its gonna do, why so many Democratic lawmakers voted for it...whats the stuff that any of you are actually interested in?

And its okay if the answer is "actually, nothing really."
i dont know anything about this college sports bill but im assuming its an attempt to bring young minorities to heel while doing nothing to reel in the excesses of the rich, powerful, overwhelmingly white executives making 7 figures?
