My personal moment that brought this home: I went to FSU, which is just down the street from FAMU. There was a guy in my Pchem class (a white guy, for what it's worth) who was new, and our department (chemistry) was relatively small.

My pchem professor always had good safety-oriented bonus questions on exams. One time, he rolled a 100gal nitrogen dewar into the lecture hall and the bonus question was "What's the best way to get this half-full dewar from the 3rd floor to the basement when the freight elevator isn't working?"

College days. Long story short, I tutored someone in PChem and then went from an F on the first test to an A on the second and they said “oh my god, you’re amazing, I will do anything” and so I said “will you be my flunky for when I take over the world.”
