Chasing the light on my drive home from Belleville.

I had literally seconds for this shot before I lost the light.

Title card for article: Eight Bells featuring a drawing of the Napanee highway sign. Reads “Town of Greater Napanee, Population 16,000, 3 Interchanges. Greater for many reasons.” Screencap of article. Intro reads: It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of Brenda Loretta Hogg, 53, along with her partner Dewain Richard McCracken, 67, aboard their boat ‘Knot 4 Sail’ on it’s maiden voyage this past Saturday evening. There are indeed many reasons Greater Napanee is Greater but today we find ourselves with one less.

Jules told Rachael to write a love letter to Eastern Ontario...and that's sort of what she did.

Title card for Rachael Boardman's story "Jules Octavian Loves You." White on black drawing of a heart using the waterways of Eastern Ontario. Screencap of the story "Jules Octavian Loves You." First paragraph reads: Jules Octavian is hopelessly in love with you, Eastern Ontario. And when I say Jules Octavian is in love with you, what I really mean is that you should be very flattered. Jules is no ordinary gentleman. He is a gentleman and that is unique enough. He’s not just painfully stylish, he’s wise and patient too. He knows his love is unrequited but also that it’s because you don’t believe in yourself. Maybe, one day, you will.

“Land as Muse,” a white on black drawing of a nude woman represented by farmer’s fields and the undulations of the landscape by Jules Octavian. Screencap of article. Intro reads: So the term ‘gold digger’ has been mentioned a few times here at County Fence HQ lately and, I have to say, it’s not something I’ve put much thought into over the years. Yet it’s turned into something surprisingly interesting to think about. Greg, in fact, has been referring to himself as a trophy husband since ‘the incident.’ He’s rather tickled about it since he’s never seen himself as particularly desirable in that sense.

ICYMI: Our new art editor can’t find the local scene. Walter’s new to the Brownlow area and encountering rural Ontario for the first time. I think he likes what he sees. Maybe a little too much.
