I may have missed it but I do not remember the UK invoking the treaty during the Falklands war. The war did happen in the 1980s, which is where Trump’s brain seems to be defaulting to. See his reference to PEOPLExpress and Obama when discussing buying Spirit airlines yesterday.

My parents drove me the 500 miles from NoVa to Vermont every year. In the mid '80s. But I flew Peoplexpress home for holidays (wrote a check for my fare onboard!)

Destiny Air Services 727-227, 9L-LFD. Originally delivered to Braniff International Airways on May 4, 1976. This aircraft also flew for Southwest Airlines, PEOPLExpress, Pan Am World Airways and Continental Air Lines amongst others. Photograph from my collection. Photographer unknown.

There was an airline where you would get on board for a flight, and the flight attendants would come down the aisle with a credit card imprinter to collect your fare. They offered service from Newark to London for $149. PEOPLExpress, 1981-1987

The man argued in the Oval Office that it was Obama's or Biden's fault that Spirit went under because they wanted to make a deal to merge with PeoplExpress... which apparently hasn't been in operation for decades.

Yeah, Spirit, PEOPLExpress, TWA, and Pan Am are going to band together to save the industry.
I guess if Americans don’t want to buy Spirit Airlines with their tax dollars it’s tough shit because Trump will spend our money on whatever he pleases since we don’t have a Congress anymore.

PeoplExpress? They ended up being owned by Frank Lorenzo and Continental Airlines. Which is how United ended up with a hub in Newark, after merging with Continental…

Important to note that Obama was attending Harvard Law School when PEOPLExpress merged with Continental Airlines, and had JUST graduated from Harvard Law School the year before Spirit Airlines sprung into existence - 16 EFFING years BEFORE Obama started serving his first term as President.

In the beginning, the cognitive events were spaced by 24 minutes. Then 12, then 6, then every 2. The last one, in DC, was a minute. In 4 days we could be seeing a cognitive event every 8 secs until they are coming every 4 secs. We should witness a double cognitive event within 7 days

I remember flying Peoplexpress from Newark to Buffalo on our way to the Niagara Falls and I was still a little child. (Also it was my first time on Canadian soil.)

He’s not anchored in time or space anymore.
He made up a merger plan involving people express and spirit airlines that President Obama blocked. That is so incredibly scrambled. It’s like his use of the word “hot”. Who has said that in decades. Nobody is saying we’re the “hottest” anything. Groovy

"Why can't the US have a carrier like Ryanair?"

We do, and people ignore it.

Every decade or so there's a US carrier that opens travel up for the masses. PSA, Southwest, PEOPLExpress. Now it's Spirit.

Many reunions, vacations, reunitings of friends, and new experiences...
